Welcome to The Wiseacre Cardmaker! I'm Mel – a Vancouver, BC papercraft artist whose style gears towards layered, dimensional artful greeting cards.
I began making my own papercrafted cards because I was bored of the standard handmade cards on the market – flat printed cards that someone designed once and then mass-produced. They are beautiful – don’t get me wrong – but it’s simply not the same as something with a little heft to it!
A little about me: I've been papercrafting my entire life, with special interest in both cardmaking and scrapbooking. Over the years, I've worked hard to fill my crafting space with professional tools and supplies. I've honed my skills and implemented professional techniques that are a mix of both industry standard and my own methods that I've discovered over the years. Other than crafting, my hobbies include reading, being a TV nerd, and biking/hiking around my beautiful home province of British Columbia.
I LOVE BEING A MAKER
When I give a card, I want it to be unique, impressive, and breathtaking. The personal touch of a handmade card makes the sentiment not just a simple message, but a genuine expression of your feelings. Gift-giving is my love language, and no gift is complete without a card that's been thoughtfully chosen for that specific person. In my experience, the card often means more to someone than the gift!
